Self-Compassion Challenge: Day 1

"Self-love, Self-care, self-compassion"

We hear these buzz words everywhere!  But are they really as darn important as people say they are? What is all the hype about? Do we really need these in our lives?

Now, before I answer these questions, let's address the elephant in the room...

Yes, I am a dietitian...so shouldn't I be talking about health and nutrition instead?

Well, here is the thing...when I talk about self-compassion, I am most definitely talking about health, and let me explain why exactly that is.

Both what motivates us to be healthier and what makes up the foundation on which our health is built matters! True health can only be achieved with the right foundation, driven by the right motives. So, where should these motives come from? What should the foundation of health be built on? You guessed it....SELF-COMPASSION! So here we are.

Self-compassion is extending compassion to one's self in instances of perceived inadequacy, failure, or general suffering. And this 'aint easy. If self-compassion were easy, we would all be doing it! However, I can assure you, although it may be difficult to achieve, learning to be more self-compassionate is sure as heck worth it and super important to your health journey. 

In fact, it is so important that I put together this ten day self-compassion challenge where I will be giving you ten digestible steps, inspiration, and activities to add that MUCH needed and MUCH deserved self-compassion into your life.

So without further ado...."Welcome to Day 1."

Day 1: Create awareness. Think about how you would treat your best friend.

The first step to change as well as the first step to creating more of anything in your life is to create more self-aware.

So for Day 1 of the challenge, that is exactly what I want you to do. Today's activity is to reflect on how we treat ourselves as compared to how we treat someone we love. Today's goals are to do some self-reflection, ask yourself some necessary questions, and set some goals.

Now it is your turn. Go on and start showing yourself some love through Day 1's activity! And hey, congratulations for getting this far. This stuff is tough and it doesn't happen overnight. But many things in life worth doing....aren't easy. And luckily, I am here to help you. Let's make them changes.
