I began working with Jamie four years ago when I realized that— for my mental health— I couldn’t go on one more diet. She helped walk me through the steps of coming to love and appreciate my body. She helped me learn the steps needed to let go of dieting and honor the body I’m in. I am so grateful for Jamie’s help in starting me on the path to body gratitude and love.

Side by Side Nutrition is a practice of incredible clinicians who care deeply about their clients. I've been working with the practice owner, Jamie, for several years, and she is one of the most compassionate, dedicated, social-justice minded people I know. If I've ever needed to refer clients from my own practice, she and her team are one of the first groups I think of.

Jamie goes above and beyond to provide the quality mental health services as affordably as possible. As a mental health clinician myself, I understand how generous it is that Side by Side Nutrition goes the extra mile to work with insurance providers. Jamie's genuine commitment to supporting her clients is a beautiful thing.

I started working with Jamie after 20 years of disordered eating and 3 years of eating disorder treatment. My RDs were always focused on my weight restoration and how I felt food, but never really got how I felt about my body. I have made bigger strides in recovery working with Jamie than I ever did with any other RD. Jamie is kind, compassionate, non-judgemental, and easy to relate to. I felt comfortable with Jamie starting from day 1. To quote my therapist, Jamie is a unicorn and you won't find anyone like her!

Jamie is a phenomenal resource for anyone looking to improve their relationship with their self-image and/or food. She is non-judgmental, a superb listener, and teaches in frameworks tailored to your individual needs. She is more than happy to answer any and all questions (no matter how silly they may seem!), and is even available after hours when needed. Her warmth and love for her profession are evident in the calm and gentle way she approaches her clients. She is well-prepared for every session and always has a unique game plan for all of her meetings. I loved working with Jamie and think she is a wonderfully rare find!

Jamie gave me peace and restoration in my mind, body, and life. I had deeply rooted issues surrounding food and my body, and I thought I would never recover from my concerns. I had my reservations about meeting a dietician on my first appointment, but the therapy is never diet-focused, and focused more on client-centered care and recovery. She tailors her therapy sessions around your goals and comfort. Jamie providers many resources for her clients to guide them through each phase of recovery. I will never forget Jamie, she was an essential factor in my recovery.

Before I started with Jamie, my life consisted of intrusive thoughts about how my body looked, daily weigh-ins, counting calories and constant concern about what I could and could not eat. My life was dictated by restrictive diet plans and exercise regimens. It consisted of late night binges and shame.

After working with Jamie and rediscovering my newfound self, I was able to shed the layers of disordered thinking and obsessive thoughts around food. I am more gracious towards my body now and allow my body to take up the space it deserves. I celebrate my mind and body for how far I have come. I was able to make peace with myself and realize that my body is constantly changing, and that life goes deeper than the ever changing body. I discovered respect and love for myself and my body that I never had before.

I would recommend this work to others, because I can attest to the fact that life is worth more than constant anxiety and fear over how a body looks or how much or how little food was consumed. I have found that life is much more enjoyable when you realize this simple truth. The journey through recovery is nonlinear and may be challenging at times, but your future self will thank you for never giving up on yourself.

Recent “graduate” from Side by Side Nutrition. I started working with Jamie Magdic to figure out how food worked after having an eating disorder for years. And I’m so happy I got so much more than that! Jamie introduced me to Self-Compassion and met me with an approach that never included shaming me. I looked forward to our sessions every week, even if I hadn’t done any of my work, because I knew she’d be understanding and work with me to figure out what I needed to make it happen. And none of that compassion and presence was lost when we had to switch to telehealth. I also worked with another practitioner recommended by Jamie who was just as compassionate and dedicated to me feeling safe. And both of whom were willing to have conversations with me when I was bothered or upset by something they said.

When I started, I didn’t think healing from an eating disorder was possible. And I never in my wildest dreams imagined that I’d come out of it with an unshakable love for my body (certainly not a plus size body with chronic illness)! I’m so glad circumstances sent me here because I know I wouldn’t have gotten to this place with my previous dietician! I am STRONG, I am CONFIDENT, and I am in LOVE with myself!

Thank you so much for helping me on my journey here! It wasn’t easy, but it was so worth it!

When I started working with Jamie, I had been struggling with my eating disorder for over six years. I had worked with RDs and therapists before, but they solely focused on weight restoration and not the mental aspect of recovery, so I stayed stuck in my disorder while in a "recovered" body. Jamie's approach was unlike any other RD or eating disorder specialist I had worked with before in that she treats her clients as whole, multifaceted people and addresses so much more than just the food piece of recovery. I was accustomed to meal plans and weigh-ins and rigid guidelines to follow, but I didn't have any of this with Jamie. She helped me to constantly challenge my eating disorder and tackle food fears while also teaching me about the importance of self care and self compassion in recovery and how I could incorporate these into my life. I truly feel that my work with Jamie not only helped me win my battle against my eating disorder but helped me to be a stronger, happier, healthier person in general now that I have those self care tools. It was so refreshing to work with someone with a holistic approach to eating disorders and body image issues and I cannot recommend working with her enough! Thank you so much Jamie for your support!
